Why we build this way

About us

For thirty years the hard part of a project was producing the design. That's ending. Generative tools now put more valid options on the table in a week than a project can evaluate in a quarter.

The constraint has moved. From design-bottlenecks to agreeing on the right design. In an industry already suffering under these processes, this could slow things down considerably.

Most project data is still built for the fraction of people trained to read it. The people who carry the consequences — the ones who will install it, operate it, pay for it, work inside it for twenty years — arrive late, or never. Decisions get made without them. Or they get deferred until not deciding is finally worse than deciding wrong.

That isn't an engineering failure. The information exists. It just isn't reachable by the people who need to weigh in.

We think this is also, quietly, the sustainability problem.

The route to the targets governments have set runs through industrialised construction: prefabrication instead of on-site improvisation, automated installation instead of rework, optimised design instead of the first workable option. Every one of them needs the design locked early and locked correctly. A factory builds exactly what is in the model. And a design can only be locked early if the people who own the consequences understood what was being locked.

Rework already runs 8–25% of a typical project budget and a meaningful share of its carbon — most of it traceable to decisions made too late, by too few people, with too little understanding.

We started in Norway in 2014, hand-building 3D systems for construction firms during the years Norwegian public projects were pushed digital ahead of most of the world. Open data, machine-validated deliveries, exchange across every party in a project — requirements much of the industry is still working toward.

We've spent the decade since at the hard end of it on purpose: the largest datasets, the most fragmented supply chains, projects where one missed decision is measured in months. We're engineers, still founder-led.

We build for the demanding case first, then make it usable by someone with no training at all. That order is harder. It's also the only one that produces something a whole project team can actually use.

Everything we build starts from the same belief: a project moves at the speed of its decisions, and a decision is only as good as the number of people who genuinely understood it.
